A daily record of Calbayog and Eastern Visayas — published since 2015.
The Calbayog Journal (CJ) is an independent newsroom serving Calbayog City, Samar, and the broader Eastern Visayas region. We cover the city government, the provincial board, fisheries and agriculture, peace and order, faith, sport, and the culture of the Calbayognon — at home and in the diaspora.

Editorial principles
The standards by which our newsroom operates. We publish them in full so readers can hold us to them.
Accuracy first
We verify before we publish. Sourcing is named whenever safety permits; corrections are issued openly and promptly.
Independence
No advertiser, official, or contributor influences what we cover or how. The newsroom and the business desk operate separately.
Local first
The story of Calbayog is told by Calbayognons. Our reporters live in the barangays they cover.
Three languages
We publish in English, Filipino, and Waray. Bilingual stories carry equal editorial weight.
Transparency
Sponsored content is always labeled. Our masthead, ownership, and corrections policy are publicly accessible.
Civility
We welcome strong opinion. We do not publish ad hominem attacks, doxxing, or content that endangers vulnerable communities.
